Hazardous Goods

These are containers that have been approved for the storage and transportation of hazardous goods. The containers are designed to be hardwearing, sturdy and durable. On occasions, a UN certificate is required depending on the goods to be transported. Laws and regulations on the use and handling of hazardous materials can differ on the activity and status of the material. For example, one set of requirements may apply to their use in the workplace while a different set of requirements applies to spill response, sale for consumer use or transportation.

The container required depends on the type of hazardous goods to be transported. Containers can be supplied for each of the UN Packaging groups which are defined as:

• Group 1: Great danger – High hazard level e.g. potassium cyanide.
• Group 2: Medium Danger – medium hazard level e.g. lead acid batteries.
• Group 3: Minor Danger- Low hazard level e.g. diesel.

RTP Materials Handling is able to supply these containers in a variety of colours and compatible with various accessories, e.g. barcodes, radio frequency identification, document wallets and ticket clips. These accessories reduce human error during transport and allow the necessary paperwork to be transported alongside the goods.
